March 14, 2024, Tokyo - Celsys today releases “Clip Studio Comic”, a new font family developed exclusively for Clip Studio Paint Ver. 3.0*1 in collaboration with IWATA CORPORATION. This comic font has a handwritten feel ideal for comics, manga, and webtoons, providing creators with easy access to a commercial-use font for published projects.
Based on characters drawn with Clip Studio Paint brushes, the font balances readability with a comic print style. The font family comes in four variations (Regular, Bold, Italic, and Bold Italic) and includes four alternate contextual glyphs for each character, which appear in a random order when a character is repeated for a more natural handwritten effect. The font also supports crossbar I, a feature highly requested by comic artists to identify personal pronouns in dialog. Clip Studio Comic is compatible with 27 languages.*2 With the new addition of the Clip Studio Comic font family, creators can use a professional comic font perfect for expressive comic and manga dialog.
This new font comes with other text-related improvements to Clip Studio Paint in Version 3.0, including support for OpenType features and writing text in a circle.
