Clip Studio Paint Improves 3D Features and Extends Free Drawing Time on Smartphones in Latest Ver. 2.3.0 Update
The latest update of illustration, comic, webtoon, and animation app Clip Studio Paint (Ver. 2.3.0) has been released worldwide on December 5. The new update includes improvements to 3D models, an adjustment in the free drawing time on smartphones from one hour daily to 30 hours monthly, improvements to mesh transformation, and more. This Ver. 2.3.0 update gives plan subscribers and update pass holders early access to the latest features that will be added to future one-time purchase editions.
◆Major feature updates ・Improved operability of 3D drawing figures
3D drawing figures and 3D character materials now move more naturally when parts are dragged for posing.
・View 3D objects without perspective
In addition to Perspective Projection, users can now select Parallel Projection to disable perspective in 3D environments.
・Support normal maps for 3D models
You can now use normal maps as textures that express shadows and contour for rendering 3D objects.
・Simple Mode UI can now be flipped horizontally on tablets
You can now flip the interface horizontally in Simple Mode on tablets.
・Auto-save at regular intervals on tablet
Save Interval and Save Mode have been added to the tablet version to enable auto-saving at intervals
・Easier to use the smartphone version
The free drawing time on smartphones has been changed from 1 hour daily to 30 hours per month. In addition, the Smartphone Plan now allows input from pen pressure, rotation, and tilt on compatible devices such as Samsung Galaxy.
・Improved mesh transformation
Users can now select and move multiple grid points when using Mesh Transformation, in order to make complex adjustments easier to perform.
This update also includes improvements to text settings and the ability to create gradients using a more vivid and realistic color mixing mode.
