Celsys today releases the next major update for Clip Studio Paint, Ver. 4.0, for the illustration, comic, webtoon, and animation app, on March 12 worldwide for all major platforms. The new version will undergo a price revision to improve profitability and ensure continuous service provision.

Clip Studio Paint was first released in 2012, and offered free updates to the one-time purchase version for 10 years. The paid major version upgrades released in 2023 and 2024 were well received, and due to a worldwide sales promotion, the number of units shipped increased, along with revenue and the number of users, raising the baseline for growth. We expect a similar effect with the major update to Ver. 4.0 available today.
The features of Version 4.0 are available to users of earlier one-time purchase versions by either signing up for a subscription or purchasing the new version at a discount. As a result, we can expect to generate revenue from an increase in subscription contracts and additional purchases of new versions from one-time purchase model users, thereby ensuring more stable and continuous service.
The price of the one-time purchase version of Clip Studio Paint is also being revised upwards by up to 10% worldwide.
