TOKYO, October 13, 2022—Digital drawing app Clip Studio Paint Version 2.0 is slated for release in March 2023, after ten years of updates on Version 1. The new version will include innovative features for creators such as an adjustable 3D head model, a hand pose scanner for 3D models, and more realistic brush blending, along with many other improvements to features. 
 
Clip Studio Paint Version 2.0 will also be released in four new languages (simplified Chinese*, Portuguese, Thai, and Indonesian) to better support artists around the world. The app will see new features such as Align & Distribute tools, better handling of text, and even more realistic color mixing. 

Version 2.0 will be available to new users as a one-time payment (perpetual) license, or as a monthly plan that will include early access to new features that will be included in future versions. There will also be a discounted upgrade for existing users, as well as a new Update Pass that gives desktop users access to the latest features without waiting for the next full version. Those who have bought the one-time purchase version of Clip Studio Paint this year can even get a free upgrade to Version 2.0 next year. Current users of monthly plans can continue to use the app with the latest features without any changes.

3D tools

• Morph into shapes for realism, anime style, cartoon proportions, or even skeletons
• Adjust the head shape, eyes, nose, eyebrows, ears and mouth

• Capture poses from a camera in real time to change the hands of the 3D model
• Draw complex hand shapes more easily 

• Choose a pose reference on Posemaniacs and apply it to a 3D model

Text tool

• Select multiple text boxes and change the text properties at once, as well as distribute & align text boxes
• Support for word wrapping and text ligaments

Webtoon features

• Drag on the canvas to add or delete white space
• Gradient patterns will adjust automatically with changes to the amount of white space

Other features & improvements

Automatic shading tool

• Adds shading based on the lines and existing colors to speed up the coloring process 
• You can adjust the shadows while looking at the preview
• Change the light placement and direction, as well as the color of the shadows

Align & distribute tools for layers and objects 

• Select multiple objects such as images, text, balloons, and frames, and align them or evenly distribute them on the canvas 

More realistic brush blending

• More intuitive and realistic color blending
• Mixed colors retain their original brightness

Background saving

• Use background saving so you can save heavy .clip files in the background and continue working without waiting for the save to complete

Spin Blur filter for a rotating motion blur effect 

• Use for effects such as a spinning tire
• Adjust the size, shape, direction, and intensity of the blur effect

Filters for lens distortion & panoramas

• Transform images distorted inward or outward like a fish-eye lens
• Transform images into a panorama-like 360-degree image

3. Updates to the Version 2.0 announcement released on August 22

There have been revisions since the August 22 announcement of Version 2.0 based on user opinions and comments.

●Purchases of the one-time purchase (perpetual) license of Version 1.0 made since January 1, 2022, can be upgraded to Ver. 2.0 for free.
Anyone who purchased the following products between January 1, 2022— October 12, 2022 is eligible for this offer.
　Clip Studio Paint PRO Ver. 1 (one-time purchase, perpetual license)
　Clip Studio Paint EX Ver. 1 (one-time purchase, perpetual license)
　Note: This also applies to the physical packaged version and PRO to EX upgrades

• Once Ver. 2.0 is released, the license will automatically be applied to the user’s Clip Studio account.

●Ver. 1 will continue to be supported with stability updates past the release of Ver 3.0.

• Celsys will also provide stability updates for errors that are due to factors such as the OS, or specific devices, beyond the transition to Version 2.0.
• Celsys initially announced that stability updates will only be provided until the release of Ver. 3.0, but for the time being, support will continue past the release of Ver. 3.0.
