Celsys is supporting an art exhibition of modern “ashura”, a type of Buddhist demigod, organized by Nara Shinbunsha. We are supporting the illustration contest on the theme of “modern ashura”, and will award copies of Clip Studio Paint to the winners.

The “Modern Ashura” Exhibition aims to highlight the modern appeal of the ashura and to increase interest in Kohfukuji Temple, particularly among young people. The exhibition will display art of ashura reimagined by illustrators as new modern characters. An illustration contest will be held before the art exhibition, and winning pieces will be displayed and included in an art anthology alongside art by exhibiting illustrators and manga artists.

July 31–September 24, 2018 (must be submitted before midnight Japan time on September 24)
▼Requirements
Must be able to complete the application in Japan (no restriction on age, gender, or nationality)
▼Theme
Must express the theme of “modern ashura” in some way, such as using the ashura as a motif or creating a character inspired by ashura.
▼Application Details
・ Submit your piece by e-mail, post, or hand delivery, and include your 1. address, 2. name or penname, 3. age, 4. phone number, 5. e-mail address, 6. title of artwork, and 7. explanation of the artwork.
・A3 color artwork (any orientation allowed)
・ Digital: jpg or png format, 350 dpi resolution, RGB display mode, up to 5MB in size
・ Traditional: Any materials accepted. Post or hand-deliver to Nara Shinbunsha (Hand-deliveries accepted between 10am and 5pm on weekdays. Please contact the office at 0742-32-2112 before hand-delivering a submission.)
・ Each applicant may submit up to five artworks. Artworks will not be returned.
・ All copyrights for submitted works remain the property of the artist.
