Clip Studio Paint sponsors Wacom’s Connected Ink event

Connected Ink is an open innovation platform run by Wacom. With the 2021 event as the 6th annual Connected Ink event, attendants could go to all sessions online, including the events held physically at Sumitomo Building Triangle Square. Creative industry experts and ecosystem partners from Europe, the Americas, and Asia also made appearances at the events hosted by Wacom's local subsidiaries.

Celsys sponsored Wacom’s Connected Ink 2023 event, held in November of the same year. At this event, Celsys participated in the Wacom Yuify Update and “KISEKI ART 2023 “Deepening” talk sessions, as well as exhibiting with a Clip Studio Paint booth.

―Wacom Yuify Update
“Wacom Yuify” is a service currently being developed by Wacom to record the proof of creators' processes, along with the background and story of their work. An update on the development was announced during the event. Hirotaka Suzuki of sdtech, a joint development partner to Wacom, Wacom Business Development Manager Jeff Ko, Wacom’s Ryoji Ishii, and Celsys Board Director Ryo Inaba took the stage to talk about their future plans using KISEKI ART, the ongoing research project they are currently involved in.

―KISEKI ART 2023 “Deepening”
The panel discussion featured details on the KISEKI ART project which began in June 2021. At this year's KISEKI ART 2023 “Deepening” the discussion focused on the efforts to find the depth of thoughts and change points hidden in the margins of the creative process from “the deep forest of data”.

Celsys hosted the “KISEKI ART 2022” talk session, as well as the “Yuify” – Preserving and conveying the evidence of creators' creations and their stories at the Tokyo venue. Further, manga artist siro reviewed 10 years of Clip Studio Paint during the panel “Drawing with Clip Studio Paint”, while Celsys was also present with its own Clip Studio Paint booth.

―KISEKI ART 2022
“KISAKI ART” is a project based on the idea that the data that creators and animators leave as part of their creative work has comparable value to the art piece itself, and is also a type of asset belonging to each artist. The panel presented and discussed research results, highlighting the technology behind capturing the creative process, including the movement of pens and brushes used.

―“Yuify” – Preserving and conveying the evidence of creators' creations and their stories”
“Wacom Yuify” is a new service being developed by Wacom to record the process of creators' creations, along with the background and story of their works, and was introduced at the event. Panel speakers were Hirotaka Suzuki of sdtech, development partner to Wacom in their joint endeavor, Takashi Itagaki, Art Director of the Runbini Art Museum and cooperator in user testing for “Wacom Yuify”, as well as Ryo Inaba of Celsys, who is leading the collaboration with Clip Studio Paint.

―“Drawing with Clip Studio Paint - a 10-year evolution that started from a natural drawing feel”

Clip Studio Paint as an app celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2022. Since its release, the developers have pursued making digital drawing feel as natural as possible, and were able to make extensive progress with the help of creators. Manga artist siro, a long-time user of Clip Studio Paint, as well as Akio Takeda of Celsys looked back on the 10-year history of the software and its evolution.

During the event, Celsys presented Clip Studio Paint and appeared at the “Kiseki Art: Art is also found in traces of creation – what will come out of the “visualization of traces”?” and “The infinite artistic potential of creators around the world” panel discussions as well as holding the “88 Constellations in 23 Hours Challenge!” event, which drew on the participation of creators.

―88 Constellations in 23 Hours Challenge!
Celsys called on creators from all across the world to submit their illustrations based on each of the 88 constellations in the night sky. During the event, illustrations of each of the constellations were gathered and projected onto the ceiling of the Connected Ink venue.



Several of the best entries were selected by Celsys to be incorporated into the launch screen of a special edition of the illustration, manga, and animation app, Clip Studio Paint, which was released as a limited edition version of the app.

While the event was underway, Celsys introduced handy functions and techniques using Clip Studio Paint for users to try out on their illustrations in a livestream.
